Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

What is it?
This school year, Riverside Central, Gage, and Elton Hills Elementary Schools have been selected to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). The FFVP is funded by the USDA and is administered by the Minnesota Department of Education. Three to four days a week, a fresh fruit or vegetable snack will be provided to students in their classroom midmorning or midafternoon. The main goal of the FFVP is to increase fruit and vegetable consumption in elementary school children as well as provide nutrition education in the classroom. This equates to providing about 17,000 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables to our students each month!
