Proposed Boundary Adjustments

Rochester Public Schools is proposing boundary adjustments for several of our buildings (Bamber Valley, Churchill/Hoover, Elton Hills, Gibbs, Jefferson, Riverside Central, Sunset Terrace, John Adams, Kellogg, Century, and John Marshall) that would impact less than 150 families beginning in the 2018-2019 school year.

At the February 20, 2018, School Board Meeting, Superintendent Munoz and John Carlson, Executive Director of Finance, briefed the school board on the proposed boundary adjustments for the 2018-2019 School Year.

  • They presented two options. A summary of Option 1 is available here. Option 1 is the proposal as originally presented except current 8th graders could continue with their current high school feeder pattern. This is the only adjustment on the proposal of Option 1.
  • A summary of Option 2 is available here. On February 14 and 15, 2018, the administration reviewed all the feedback received and created a proposed Option 2 for the School Board to consider along with the originally proposed option. We are now seeking public feedback on Option 2.
  • There have been no decisions made at this time. To hear or see the discussion, please visit BoardDocs to watch the meeting playback.

Boundary adjustments are complex, and a great deal of thought, data, and feedback are used in researching and planning boundary adjustments. We have been researching options, with the support of a software called Guide K12. The district has NOT made any decisions at this time, but we do believe it is in the best interest of the district, and community as a whole, to adjust boundaries for the next school year.

We invite you to share your feedback on Option 2 by filling out the "Options Feedback Form". We will be accepting forms until March 2, 2018.

  • Fill out the “Options Feedback Form” and send it via postal mail to: Edison Building, ATTN: Communications Department, 615 7th Street SW, Rochester, MN 55902.
