Washington became a choice school within the Rochester Public Schools in 1996. With a rigorous, content-rich curriculum based on the Core Knowledge Sequence, we offer our students a solid foundation of knowledge in world and American history, classic literature, science and fine arts. Language arts instruction stresses phonics skills in the early grades and quality literature throughout the grades. Students learn to write clearly, concisely, and with purpose. In math, students are expected to master basic computation skills as well as develop the ability to think mathematically and solve real-world problems. Character education and regular homework are also features of our school.
Parent participation in the school is encouraged through PTA, Volunteers in Education, and Site Council.
