Rochester Public Schools Closed


Rochester Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, due to weather conditions.

School Age Child Care (SACC) is OPEN at Northrop from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

All day and evening Community Education classes are cancelled.

All night school classes are cancelled. Alternative Learning Center (ALC) Night School at Golden Hill is cancelled.

The following schools’ conferences have been canceled for tonight and will be rescheduled for another date:

Gage Elementary-rescheduled for Thursday, February 11
Bishop Elementary-rescheduled for Tuesday, February 16
Jefferson Elementary-rescheduled for Tuesday, February 23
Elton Hills Elementary- rescheduled by classroom teachers for another date
Sunset Terrace Elementary
Ben Franklin/Montessori at Franklin Elementary
Bamber Valley Elementary-rescheduled for Tuesday, February 16 (same time), PTA meeting canceled

The 6th grade ski trip is Friday, February 5th. Please see your advisory teacher for more information.
 
 

District Policy Reminder

District Policy Reminder

Please review the following information regarding electronic devices:

*Cameras and any other recording devices are not allowed at school.

*Cell phones must be in the students locker from 7:25am-2:45pm. Students may not carry or use cell phones during the day. Any cell phone that is out during the school day will be stored in the office until a parent can come in and pick it up.

*Items such as iPods, MP3 players, etc. must also be stored in the locker for the entire school day.
These regulations are in place to protect all students. We encourage that these valuable items be kept at home.

John Adams Music Concerts



All students attending music concerts at JA that are not involved with the performance must have a parent with them! Thank you for supporting our music program.

Upcoming Concert Dates are:

December 10th - 7/8 Grade Band

January 21st - 6th Grade Orchestra

January 26th - 7/8 Chorus

PTA Reflections

2010 PTA Reflections Program


The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. This year's theme is "Beauty is….." Students may submit an entry in any of the six arts areas listed below. Only original works of art are accepted. The six arts areas are as follows:

o Literature

o Musical composition

o Photography

o Visual arts

o Dance Choreography

o Film/Video Production

JA has over 1,100 students. The school was built in 1970 and currently serves for students in sixth, seventh, & eighth grades. One of the major goals of the John Adams staff is to establish positive and collaborative relationships with students and parents to promote the ultimate growth for each child.
